This is according to Seeff’s agent, Elma Steyn, who says located in Saldanha on the West Coast, just under two hours’ drive from Cape Town, this particular castle is constructed out of stone and mortar, and is similar in design to the famed Noetzie castles in Knysna.

Steyn says the property is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac with direct access to a white sandy beach. The erf size is just over 600sqm and the three-storey castle offers almost 550sqm under roof. It currently serves as a registered guest house, popular with honeymooners and holidaymakers.

The property offers nine bedroom suites, along with a dining room that can seat fifty guests. Other features include a solid redwood railing on the staircase. While it offers an authentic medieval atmosphere, it also comes with modern amenities. The asking price is R5.75 million inclusive of all furniture and linens.

Steyn says the current owners are selling as they are looking to retire, and the price presents excellent investment value for what is on offer.

Steyn says the property is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac with direct access to a white sandy beach.

Saldanha is already gaining popularity as a holiday destination, and is poised for further growth on the back of exciting development in the area, all of which is bound to have a positive influence on the property market and values in the next few years, she says.

As with most of the West Coast, Saldanha’seconomy is predominantly fishing-based, although iron ore is also strong economic driver. The port is also being developed to service the growing number of oil rigs at work along the western coast of Africa. This area is also the home of the South African Military Academy that provides training for thousands of sailors.

Steyn says property prices in the town are still affordable. Options range from a selection of business premises to commercial, development and industrial land. There are also a number of agricultural properties. Residential homes start at around R600 000 and range to about R6 million for a top-end property.

“What makes Saldanha an excellent choice is its close proximity to Cape Town, as well as its access to other West Coast destinations that are all within a 20km radius. These includePaternosterJacobsbaaiLangebaan, Tietiesbaai, Blue Water Bay and Stompneus Bay.”

There are also excellent facilities in the area including two large shopping malls, West Coast Mall as well as Laguna Mall, she says.
